Tänään minulla oli
International Business Operations and Environment -kurssin loppukoe. Kokeen
piti alkaa 13.15, ja opettaja oli viime kerralla sanonut tulevansa aikaisemmin,
mikäli olisi jotain kysyttävää ennen koetta. Onneksi minulla ei ollut
kysymyksiä, sillä opettaja tuli juuri tasan silloin kuin kokeen piti alkaa.
Olimme myös viime kerralla saanet kysymykset kokeen ensimmäiseen osaan, eli
alku koe oli vaan suoraa kopiointia kirjasta. Kaikki eurooppalaiset oppilaat
olivat tulleet ajoissa, mutta afrikkalaiset tulivat milloin sattui. Joidenkin
piti jopa opettajan käskystä alkaa soittelemaan kavereilleen kesken koetta, että
ovatko he tulossa kokeeseen. Enpä usko, että kaikki tiesivät kokeen olevan
tänään, sillä mikäli tunneilla ei käy, kukaan ei ilmoita kokeesta erikseen.
Kokeen toinen osa oli case-study. Ensimmäinen case oli keksitty, mutta toinen
koski Starbucksin korkeita hintoja Kiinassa verrattuna muihin maihin. Onneksi
tästä olimme puhuneet jollain toisella tunnilla, joten ainakin minulla oli
jotain tietoa asiasta. Kokeen piti kestää vain puolitoista tuntia, joten alussa
kopioin niin nopeaan tahtiin kuin vain pystyin, jotta minulla olisi enemmän
aikaa mennä toinen osio paremmin läpi. Olin lopulta ensimmäinen, joka poistui
luokasta. Kurssi oli helpoin, joka
minulla oli tässä jaksossa. Olen silti iloinen, että se on ohi, sillä nyt
minulla on vapaata sekä joulun että uudenvuoden jälkeiset päivät.

I had my first exam today in International
Business Operations and Environment. The teacher had said last time that he
would come earlier to class in case somebody would have questions regarding the
exam. I’m glad I didn’t have anything to ask since he arrived when the exam
should have started. All European students were on time, but most Africans were
late or in some case didn’t show up at all. The teacher even made some students call their
friends in the middle of the exam to hear if they were coming or not. The first
part of the exam was four of the questions we were given in advance, so I only
needed to copy the answers straight from my notes or the book. Some did even
have their laptops with them. I did this part as fast as I could so I could
move on to the second part with the case-studies. The first case was made up but
the second one was regarding Starbucks and the high prices it has in China
compared to other countries. One of my teachers had talked about this topic in
class, so I had at least some fact to use in this case. In the end I was the
first one to finish the exam, but then again I don’t think that the rest of the
class had prepared at all. For example for some of the questions I had written
the full answer in my notebook, so that I wouldn’t need to look it up from the book.
This method saved me lots of time.
