Face Masks

Face masks are in great demand in China. They have been in most stores since I came to China in 2013. I didn’t try them in the beginning, but now I have become more interested in finding a good one for myself. I started by buying some cheap ones from Mannings, but they aren’t that good. Therefore I will have to look for better ones, maybe even buy some more expensive ones from Sephora? My sister-in-law used to buy really cheap and great silk masks, which made the skin moist and smelled really nice from the internet, but  I don’t think I will find any good ones on my own from Taobao.

Kasvonaamiot ovat Kiinassa kova hitti. Niitä on ollut tarjolla monessa kaupassa jo siitä lähtien kun tulin Kiinaan vuonna 2013. En alussa käyttänyt niitä ollenkaan, mutta nyt pikkuhiljaa olen alkanut kokeilemaan niitäkin. Laadussa huomaa eroja, mutta hinta ei aina takaa parempaa laatua. Ostin nämä kasvonaamiot Mannings kaupasta, jossa oli vaikka kuinka monta eri merkkiä tarjolla. En kokenut, että nämä olisivat erikoisen hyvät, joten metsästys jatkuu. 

Makeup Academy Palette

Shanghaissa kesäalennuksien aikana ostin aivan loistavan meikkisetin Sephoran liikkeestä. En ollut suunnitellut ostavani tätä settiä, mutta koska myyjä nyt kehu sitä sen verran paljon ja kertoi, että edellispäivä asiakas oli ostanut seitsemän kappaletta, niin olihan pakko itsekin ostaa. Pakkaus oli kai seitsemänkymmen- prosentin alennuksessa ja maksoi noin kolmekymmentä euroa. Ostaessa jopa vain yhden Sephoran luomivärin, joutuu maksamaan yli kymmenen euroa, joten eihän hinta ole edes verrattavissa kun setistä löytyi yhteensä 130 väriä. Paletti on jaettu kolmeen eri osaan, josta suurimmassa on 72 eri luomiväriä. Vasemmalla on yksi pohjustusväri, 18 eye-lineria, 7 poskipunaa ja 3 peiteväriä. Oikealla on myös yksi pohjustusväri ja 28 huuliväriä ja kiiltoa. Keskikonsolin avatessa esiin tulee peili. Toisin sanoen tämä on varmasti kannattavin ja paras tekemäni meikki ostos ikinä. Melkein jo harmittaa, etten ostanut toisen kappaleen.

During the summer sales in Shanghai I found this great makeup palette at Sephoras. I wasn’t planning on buying anything like this, but the sales person insisted it was a great deal after letting me know that a women had bought seven of there the day before. To get a hold of this deal I paid something around 260rmb, which meant that it was on sale for up to seventy percent. When buying one eye shadow at Sephoras it costs about 100 rmb, compared to the palette with 130 shades foe eyes, face and lips! The central panel has 72 waterproof eye shadows, in other words I will never get bored with this one. The left hand side has one primer, 18 cream eyeliners, 7 cream and powder blushes and 3 concealers. The right hand side also has a colorless primer and 28 lip colors. The set comes complete with some small brushes but the sales person also gave some more, which was nice. When opening the palettes middle part a mirror can be found. After getting this one there won’t be any make up in the future that can compare to the awesomeness of this one! 

I Love Me -messut

Äitini oli voittanut Ellen arvonnassa kaksi pääsylippua I Love Me –messuille, jotka ovat toisin sanoen jokavuotiset kauneus, terveys ja muoti messut, jotka pidetään messukeskuksessa. Saimme siellä vietettyä huimat viisi tuntia kierrellen ja katsellen mitä oli tarjolla. Kävimme mm. hiuspohjan analyysissä, jossa selvisi jonkin verran hiuspohjani laadusta ja miten sitä hoitaa. Paras osuus oli kyllä puolentunnin kestävät meikkaus ja hius –kurssit, jotka serkkuni järjesti messuilla. Päivän aikana pystyi valitsemaan yhden viidestä eri ilmaiskokeilukurssista, johon osallistua, mutta mikäli paikat eivät olleet täyttyneet sai osallistua muihinkin. Menimme ensiksi oppimaan miten tehdään smoky eyes look. Kaksitoista henkeä sai tehdä meikkauksen itse omien pöytien ääressä, kun muu messu-yleisö pystyi seuraamaan sivusta. Kun nyt kerran itse sai tehdä, samalla kun meitä opastettiin, päätin kokeilla jotain värikkäämpää lookia, enkä päätynyt normaaliin ruskeaan tai mustaan, vaan otin kirkkaan sinisen päävärikseni. Väri toimi hyvin, ohjeet olivat selvät ja lopputulos loistava. Parin tunnin jälkeen kävimme seuraavalle oppitunnille, jossa opimme tupeeraamaan oikeaoppisesti. Tämäkin homma meni ihan hyvin ja jatkossa sitten itse osaa kun kerran on saanut seurata ammattilaista sivusta.

My mother won two tickets for the I Love Me –fair. Last weekend we went there and spent almost five hours by just walking around the different sections that included beauty, health, fashion and fitness. The fair is held every year and I have been there a couple of times before. This time there were a lot of great brands and products to see and test. The best part of the fair was the beauty school lessons held by my cousin that we attended. On the first one we learnt how to do a smoky eyes look. Instead of trying out the basic brown or black styles I went for the blue color and the end result was great. Twelve lucky ones were able to attend each lesson and do the makeup their selves as my cousin was giving directions from the stage on how to do it. People who couldn’t attend the class themselves were able to follow the process around the stage. The second class we attended taught us on how to put volume in our hair styles. The instructions were simple, but the amount of products used was and stages to take is a bit overwhelming to do on your own. In the end it was great to follow a professional and go it on your own.

Meikkejä markkinoilta

Meikkejäkin saa markkinoilta halvalla ostettua, joten ajattelin kertoa mitä sieltä on mukaan tullut. Olen ostanut kahdet OPIn kynsilakat noin 1,30€/kpl, kun ne Suomessa maksaa noin 16€ kappale. Olin ottanut mukaan Kiinaan omia kynsilakkoja, joten pystyin vertaamaan feikki-lakkaa oikeaan. Pullon muoto on hyvä kopio, mutta tekstien fontista tietää heti, että kyseessä ei ole oikea OPI. Pullosta puuttuu myös metalli pallo, jota pulloa heiluttaessa sekoittaa lakkaa. Muuten olen ollut ihan tyytyväinen ostamaani siniseen ja pinkki-konfetti lakkaan, sillä värit ovat olleet hyvät. Olin jo yhtenä päivänä menossa ostamaan lisään, mutta liikkeessä jossa oli haluamani värejä oli liikaa asiakkaita, ja tinkiminen on silloin aina vaikeampaa, joten kaupat jäi tekemättä. Samasta liikkeestä, josta ostin lakat, ostin myös Mac:in luomiväriä. Tanskalaisella oli oikea Mac, joten pystyimme vertaamaan koostumusta toisiinsa. Melko samaa tavaraa, mutta ostamassani paketissa oli vähemmän luomiväriä. Luomiväristä maksoin taas noin neljä euroa.

Toisella markkinakäynnillä ostin Bobbi Brownin meikkisivellinsetin noin kahdeksalla eurolla. Setissä on viisitoista sivellintä, mutta en ole vielä ottanut niitä käyttöön, sillä ajattelin ensin käydä ostamassa sivellin-puhdistusaineen ennen kun otan ne käyttöön. Eihän koskaan voi tietää missä niitä on pidetty. Tarjolla oli muita sivellinsettejä samalta merkiltä ja myös Macin siveltimiä on myynnissä. Käytössä olevat siveltimet ovat ostettu Hong Kongista, joten oli jo aika ostaa uudet, ja onneksi pensselit vaikuttivat nyt ihan hyvälaatuisilta. Eli toivottavasti ne nyt tämän vuoden kestävät.

At least from the Nanjing Rd market you can buy lots of different make-up products cheaply. The first time I bought two OPI nail polishes, just to test if they are the same quality as the real ones. I had with me some OPIs from back home, so I could compare the bottle, text and the polish to my own ones. I bought one blue and one pink-confetti nail polish, and so far I have been pretty pleased with the quality of them. The only bad thing is that the bottle doesn’t have the metal ball inside, which you can blend the polish so I wonder how long the polish will last. From the same shop I also bought MAC eyeshades. All together I paid 50RMB. It’s a lot cheaper than buying these things back in Finland, but I have no idea what is a normal price to pay for make-up in the markets.

The second time I went to the market I bought a Bobbi Brown make-up brush set. The set consisted of fifteen brushes and it cost me 60RMB after some negotiations. There were also other sets on sale as well as brushes from MAC. I’ll have to go and buy some brush cleanser before I start using the brushes, since you never know where they have been before they came to the shop.
