Huonepalvelua

Tilasin huonepalvelua, sillä en jaksanut uinnin jälkeen lähteä ulos etsimään ravintolaa. Tilasin annoksen Nasi gorengia, eli Indonesialaista riisiä ja kanaa, ja Intialaista kurria. Soittaessani tilatakseen annokset puhelimeen vastannut nainen sanoi, että annokset tulevat huoneeseeni kello kahdelta, eli 40 minuutin kuluttua. Annokset kumminkin saapuivat vähän aikaisemmin ja nainen toi lautaset huoneeseen. Maksoin käteisellä, mutta hänellä ei ollut vaihto rahaa, eikä edes kortti laitetta mukana. Veikkaisin, että kaikki muut pistävät huoneen piikkiin, sillä sen verran huonosti hän oli varautunut maksuun. Huonolla englannin kielellä hän selitti palaavansa kohta. Hän jätti annosten päälle muovit ja lähti pois. Yli viitisen minuuttia kesti ja minulla alkoi jo olemaan nälkä. Nainen tuli takaisin vaihtorahalla, mutta ei siis poistanut muoveja. No itse ne poistin ja aloin syömään. Annokset eivät olleet niin herkullisia kun mitä olisi voinut kuvitella, esim. kurrissa käytetty liha sisälsi niin sanottuja huonoja lihapaloja, joita kiinalaiset mielellään syövät, mutta minä en.

                                                                                                                                                                 

I ordered room service, as I was too lazy to go outside to find a restaurant after my swim. I ordered some Nasi Goreng, Indonesian rice with chicken, and Indian curry. The woman taking my order told that the dishes would be served in my room at two o’clock, so 40 minutes later. The food arrived some 10 minutes earlier and the woman coming with the dishes didn’t have change, or even a card machine for that matter, so she had to run and get some change for me. While I was waiting for some five minutes I got really hungry and my food was just waiting there and getting cold. When she came back she handed over the change and left. She did not even remove the covers from the dishes. The food was not as good as I had hoped and the curry included pieces of meat, that western people do not eat, but Chinese people like. 

Syntymäpäiväkakku lobbyssa

CCn syntymäpäivän kunniaksi kävimme hotellin lobbyissa syömässä kakkua. Kakut olivat kuuden jälkeen illalla puoleen hintaan, joten tämäkin kakku maksoi vain parisen euroa. Lobbyssa oli live musiikkia, eli mies soitti pianoa ja nainen lauloi kiinaksi.

                                                                                                                                                                   

We had some cake in the hotel lobby to celebrate CCs birthday. After six o’clock the cakes were discounted by 50% so this cake cost just some 15rmb. The lobby had live music with a man playing piano and a woman singing in Chinese.

Uimahalli ja kuntosali sijaitsivat toisessa kerroksessa. Meidän piti kirjautua sisään tiskillä ja sieltä saimme pyyhkeet ja magneetti avaimet kaappeja varten. Pukuhuone oli todella hieno, ja siellä oli suihkut verhoineen, sauna ja höyry huone. En valitettavasti ehtinyt käydä näissä saunoissa. Pukuhuoneessa löytyi kaikki tarvittava, eli sandaalit, pyyhkeet, shampoo, jopa muovipussit märkiä vaatteita varten. Kiinassa pitää olla uima myssy päällä kun menee uimaan, ja sillä CCllä ei ollut omaa, hotelli lainasi hänelle yhden.

Uimahallin allas oli todella suuri, tai ainakin suurempi kuin mitä olin kuvitellut. Tämän lisäksi löytyi kaksi pientä allasta, joista yksi oli kylmä ja toinen kuuma, mutta itse asiassa kylmä allas oli enemmänkin lämmin. Myös pieni lasten allas löytyi. Meidän ollessa uimassa, paikan päällä oli vain yksi toinen uimari, ja hänen lähdettyä paikalle ei pitkään aikaan tullut muita uimaan, joten saimme olla ihan rauhassa uimassa.

Kävimme myös kuntosalilla, joka oli loistava. Kaikki tarvittavat laitteet, jopa soutulaite, löytyi. Laitteet olivat siistejä ja paljon uudempia, kun mitä meidän omalla kuntosalilla on. Monet ihmiset olivat juoksemassa, ja vain harva oli meidän kanssa nostamassa painoja. Kuntosalilla oli pyyhkeet ja juomavalikoimasta sai teetä tai vettä. Harmi vain, että kävimme sen verran myöhään, etten paljon jaksanut treenata.

                                                                                                                                                               

The swimming pool and gym was located next to each other on the second floor. We needed to sign in at a counter and get a towel and an electronic key to the locker. The changing room was quite fantastic, with large showers with curtains, a steam room and a small sauna. Everything was provided, except for your own bath suite. There were sandals, towels, shampoo, hair dryer, even a plastic bag for your wet swim wear to be put in. Like in every swimming pool in China, you have to wear a swim cap. CC didn’t have any, but this was also provided by the hotel.

The swimming pool was bigger than expected and just one person was swimming with us in the beginning and later on it was just us two with guard on duty. In addition to the large pool, there was one small cold pool, which was not exactly cold on my standard, one small hot pool and one baby pool. I really liked the pool area with lots of sun beds and chairs to relax on.

We also went to the gym that had all the equipment you could need. It was even better than the gym back home, since the equipment was newer and better. Most people were running on the treadmill, but some were also lifting weights. Here you could also get a small towel and drinks including two different teas and water. The gym was quite large and there was lots of space, so no need to go too close to each other.

Vietimme kaksi yötä Hefein Crowne Plaza hotelissa. Hotelli oli hyvä ja kaikki tarvittava löytyi, mutta mielestäni palvelu ei ollut ehkä niin ensiluokkaista kun mitä olisi voinut kuvitella, esim. englannin kielen taito vaihteli suuresti. Hotellin hyvät puolet oli suuri huone, jossa oli erikseen suihku ja kylpyamme. Kylpyhuoneen ja makuhuoneen välisen seinän pystyi liuottamaan sivuun, ja esim. vedenkeittimen veden lisääminen sujui helposti. Huoneemme sijaitsi kahdeksannessa kerroksessa, ja maisemat olivat huonot. Näkymään kuului autokoulun harjoittelupiha ja junarata.

Harmitti kovasti, että olin varannut hieman kalliimman hotellin, sillä emme viettäneet hotelissa kovin paljon aikaa. Ensimmäisenä päivänä saavuimme hotelliin vasta kolmen jälkeen. Lähdimme melkein heti heittämään kaveri, joka oli ollut kyydissä mukana Shanghaista asti, kämpilleen. Jäimme sinne sitten odottamaan noin tunnin, että voisimme mennä ulos syömään. Syömiseenkin kului parisen tuntia ja hotellissa olimme taas vasta yhdeksän aikoihin. Seuraavana päivänä meillä oli aamupäivällä hommia, mutta sen jälkeen oli aikaa käydä uimassa. Kaveri tuli pelaamaan korttia huoneeseemme ja tilasin huonepalvelun. Iltapäivällä lähdimme ulos ja takaisin tulimme sitten taas joskus kahdeksan aikoihin. Nopeasti kävimme kuntosalilla ennen kun alkoi nukuttaa liikaa. Seuraavana ja viimeisenä aamuna lähdimme jo ennen kahdeksaa ulos ja tulimme vasta vähän ennen kello kahta takaisin. Ehdin juuri ja juuri pakata tavarat kasaan ennen kun piti tsekata ulos. Aamupala ei kuulunut hintaan ja emme edes ehtineet mennä sinne, vaikka olisin ollut valmis maksamaan 15 euroa per henkilö.

                                                                                                                                                                   

We spent two nights in the Crowne Plaza hotel in Hefei. The hotel was good, but the service not as excellent as I would imagine a place like this would have. Even though there were western people staying there in addition to me, the staff wasn’t always able to communicate in English. The room we had was quite nice and big. We had a large bedroom with a bathroom that had separate toilet, shower and bathtub. The wall separating the bathroom from the bedroom could be slide to the side and this made adding water to the boiler much easier. The hotel had also an indoor swimming pool and gym that we had time to go to.

Actually I didn’t feel like we had enough time to use all the commodities of the hotel, as we were most of the time outside. In other words the amount of time spent in the hotel was so little, that we could have just as well got a cheaper hotel. We arrived late on the day of check in and the first day we went out for dinner and only came back late in the evening. The second day we had time in the hotel, but not as much as I would have liked. The last day and check out day we didn’t have any time to spend in the hotel and I was barely able to come back in time to pack up before we had to check out at two o’clock.

CCn isä on hotelilla töissä, joten saimme viettää siellä yön ilmaiseksi viime viikonloppuna. Hotelli on juuri valmistunut remontista, joten kaikki on uusittu. Aikaisemmin hotelli oli aika räsäisen, ja yksi yö maksoi noin viisitoista euroa. Remontin myötä hinta korotettiin kuuteenkymmeneen euroon. Ilmaisen yön lisäksi saimme myös käydä aamupalalla. Tänä viikonloppuna olisi tarkoitus taas mennä yöksi hotelille, sillä sieltä pääse nopeasti metrolle.

                                                                                                                                                            

CCs father works at a hotel, and he has given us the chance to stay there for free one night. Last weekend we slept there and ate the breakfast. The reason for going there is because the hotel has just gone through a renovation and everything is brand new. The place used to look pretty awful and one night there cost some 100rmb, but now the price for one night has increased to 400rmb. We will go there again tomorrow, since it is conveniently located near the metro station and of course sleeping with high quality pillows and blanket is more comfortable than the IKEA ones we have back home.

Hostelli sijaitsi noin kolmenkymmenenminuutin matkanpäässä juna-asemalta, joten otimme taxin. Taxikaan ei perille ensiksi löytänyt, sillä sisäänkäynti oli sen verran piilossa. Hostellin olin etukäteen netistä varannut, sillä se sijaitsi lähellä Longmen Grottoes, eli nähtävyyttä, jonne olimme Luoyangissa ollessamme menossa katsomaan. Lisäksi hostelli oli bussi pysäkin vieressä, joten matkat sujuivat helposti. Hostelliin tullessamme virkailija kyseli, että olemmehan naimisissa, kun poikaystävän kanssa varasimme vain yhden huoneen.. Aika outo kysymys ollakseen hostelli, jossa monet matkustelevat pariskunnat asuvat. Emme huonetta heti saaneet, joten menimme ravintolan puolelle syömään. Paikalle ilmestyi kissanpentu, joka oli todella suloinen. Vessa käynnin jälkeen, poikaystävä tuli ilmoittamaan, että vessassa makaa valtava kissa, jota hän ensiksi ei luullut aidoksi. Hetken kuluttua paksu kissa tuli luoksemme löntystellen. Paksu kissa oli ihmeen ketterä ja nopea, ja aina tilanteen tullessa, yritti päästä pennusta eroon. Henkilökunta joutui aina menemään kissojen väliin, ettei pikkuiselle menisi huonosti. Kissoja oli hostellissa kiva seurata ja muutenkin paikka oli kaikin puolin mukava ja hintansa arvoinen yöpymispaikka, vaikka ei huoneessa ollut edes saippuaa.

Our hostel was located a thirty minute taxi ride from the train station. Is it wasn’t located in the city center, we were much nearer to the sight we had planned to visit that day, namely the Longmen Grottoes. The hostel wasn’t easy to find at first, but it was located next to a bus stop, which was convenient for us. At the reception I was asked if we were married, since they couldn’t understand how a couple in any other relationship could be able to share a room? After this question, the receptionist continued speaking only mandarin with my boyfriend. We didn’t get the room straight away so we went to the restaurant first to have some lunch. There was really cute kitten that sat in a weird way and looked at us with its large sad eyes all the time. My boyfriend also found a fat cat in the bathroom which he at first thought wasn’t real. The fat cat was really fast and tried to assumingly get rid of the kitten, when nobody was watching. The staff had to interrupt the fights whenever the fat cat attacked. 

Luma Luma Holiday Apartments

Australiassa olimme pohjoisimmassa kaupungissa nimeltä Darwin ja yövyimme Luma Luma lomahuoneistoissa. Huoneessamme oli keittiö, joka oli kovassa käytössä, sillä ruoka oli ihan todella kallista Australiassa. Eli periaatteessa lounaaksi oli joka päivä spagettia eri kastikkeiden kanssa. Ihan hyvää kaikkien riisi ja nuudeli annosten jälkeen. Kolmen päivän aikana satoi yli puolet ajasta, joten hotellin uima-altaalla olimme vain parisen kertaa. Hotelli sijaitsi keskellä keskustaa, joten kävelimme joka päivä ympäri keskustaa.

In Australia we stayed in the most northern city named Darwin. Our Luma Luma hotel was a holiday apartment, so we had our own kitchen, which was great since the food was really expensive in Australia. Basically we ate for lunch spaghetti every single day. During our three day stay it rained most of the time, but since our hotel was located in the city center we could still walk around the nearby area every day.

Muutimme viimeiseksi yöksi Jimabaran-rannalla sijaitsevaan hotelliin nimeltä Keraton. Hotelliportin luona automme tarkastettiin pommien varalta ja hotelliin sisään tullessamme isoon gongiin lyötiin tervetuloksi. Respassa saimme tervetuliasjuomat ja meidät näytettiin huoneeseemme. Hotelilla oli iso uima allas ja se sijaitsi aivan merenrannan äärellä. Illalla söimme hotellin ravintolassa pizzaa sekä banaanasplitin että paikallisia jälkiruokia. Aamulla taas menimme syömään aamiaisen seisovasta pöydästä. Periaatteessa tarjolla oli samantyyppisiä ruokia kun Puri Tempo Doeloessa, mutta niin kun usein buffetissa, jotkut ruoat voivat olla loppumaisillaan. Täällä kumminkin saimme suoraan kokilta omeletin ja vohvelia. Keratonin tapaisissa hotelleissa olemme olleet useasti eri maissa, joten Puri Tempo Doeloe oli sinänsä mielestäni parempi. Seuraavana päivänä satoi joten pakkasimme tavaramme, otimme taksin lentokentälle ja lensimme Australiaan.

For the last night we moved to Keraton Resort and Spa located on the Jimbara beach. At the hotel gate our van was searched for bombs and at the entrance a gong was hit to indicate new guests had arrived. We got welcome drinks and were showed to our room. The room was much bigger when compared to our cabin at Puri Tempo Doeloe. The hotel had a large pool and was also located right beside the beach. In the evening we ate at the hotel restaurant pizza, bananasplit and some assorted Balinese desserts. In the morning we could go to the buffet to have breakfast. This wasn’t too special at all, even though at the reception they asked everybody how the breakfast had been. It was raining the next day, so we just packed, took a taxi to the airport, from where we flew to Australia.

Hotellialueella oli yhteensä vähän yli kymmenen mökkiä, joista kahdella oli omat uima-altaat. Muilla vierailla oli käytössä yhteinen allas, joka oli melko pieni, mutta samalla muut vieraat eivät aina olleet meidän kanssa samaan aikaan altaalla, joten koko ei sinänsä haitannut. Hotellin Indonesialaiset mökit olivat kaikki erilaisia ja sisälsivät sekä uutta että vanhaa. Esim. huonekalut olivat enemmän antiikkimaisia, mutta huoneissa oli samalla tv ja muuta elektroniikkaa. Hotellin puutarha oli täynnä patsaita ja muita yksityiskohtia, joten joka päivä huomasi jotain uusia yksityiskohtia, joita ei aikaisemmin ollut nähnyt. Keskellä aluetta oli avoin tila, joka muistutti vähän olohuonetta, jossa pystyi viettämään aikaa tai lukea muiden asiakkaiden jättämiä lehtiä ja kirjoja. Muuten alueella oli mökkien lisäksi ravintola, spa, yoga-studio sekä respa että tietokonehuone omissa mökeissään.

Our hotel consisted of a little over ten cabins for guest to live in. All of the cabins looked different and had different interior. As the cabins were traditional Indonesian houses gathered from different places the hotel area looked more authentic, and not so commercial. All the cabins had antique furniture mixed up with new electronics such as TVs. Two of the villas had their own pool but the rest of the hotel-guests could relax at a shared-pool. The pool was a bit small, but as most of the guests weren’t at the pool all the time, we could have it by ourselves a couple of times. The hotel garden was full of statues and other details that I discovered every day. It was at first a bit chaotic but in the end the garden was made into an interesting mix of styles. The hotel area also had a open-aired space were you could read magazines or books, a yoga-studio, a restaurant, as well as the reception and internet-room in their own separate cabins. 

Puri Tempo Doeloe

Balilla yövyimme Puri Tempo Doeloe nimisessä hotelissa Sanur –alueella. Ensiksi en kauheasti hotellin mökeistä ja ympäristöstä tykännyt, mutta viikon aikana siihen tottui. Mökissä maku-olohuoneen lisäksi oma wc huone, sekä pesuhuoneessa suihku että kylpyamme oli erikseen. Saapuessamme ensimmäistä kertaa hotelille, menimme katsomaan kolmea eri mökkiä, sillä kaikki olivat erilaisia. Valitsimme sitten tämän mökin sillä siinä saimme kaksi erillistä sänkyä ja kylpyammeen, mutta samalla saimme pienemmän terassin, kun mitä muissa mökeissä olisi ollut.

In Bali we stayed in a hotel named Puri Tempo Doeloe, which was located on the east costs Sanur area. At first I didn’t quite like the hotels small houses and the surrounding with so many details, but I got used to it during our stay. We were given the option to look at three cabins, before we chose which one we wanted to stay in. All of the cabins were different, and the one we chose had both separate beds and a bathtub, but on the other hand we got a smaller terrace. The great thing about the cabin was that shower and bathtub were separately, and not all in one, as it usually is. 

Fragrance Hotel Emerald

Saavuimme Singaporeen myöhään illalla, joten päätimme ottaa taxin hotelille. Taxikuski tiedusteli, mikäli tiesimme miltä alueelta olimme valinneet hotellin. Olimme kyllä tietoisia, että suurin punaisten lyhtyjen alue oli juuri hotellin lähistöllä, mutta halpoja hotelleja ei kylläkään Singaporesta muutenkaan löydä. Kuski ei edes oikein löytänyt oikealle kadulle, joten ilta hämärässä saimme nähdä lähikorttelit taxin sisältä. Eipä alue mitenkään pahalta vaikuttanut, vaan näimme enimmäkseen vaan halpoja ruokapaikkoja lähistöllä. Hotelimme Emerald kuului Fragrance Hotels ketjuun, joten lähistöllä oli melkein kymmenen samantapaista hotellia. Huone oli todella pieni, mutta tarkoituksena oli alun perinkin vaan kahden yön yöpyminen siellä, ja emmehän me Singaporessa ollessa vietä huoneessa paljon aikaa.

Hotelli oli noin kymmenen minuutin kävelymatkan päässä metroasemasta, joten pääsimme helposti kaupunkiin. Takaisin tulo hotelille oli taas vaikeampaa illalla päättäessäni kokeilla toista metroasemaa hotellin lähistöllä. Emme missään nähneet takseja, ja lopulta Singaporelainen tuli apuun ja tilasi meille taxin, kun emme pimeitä katuja pitkin halunneet kävellä hotelille.

We arrived in Singapore late in the evening by air, so we decided to take a taxi to the hotel. The trip didn't take too long, but on the way the driver wanted to make sure we knew to what district we were going to, as he didn't think the red light light district was suitable for us. We were aware of this, but as I had looked through hotels in Singapore in advance, the price and location of Fragrance Hotel Emerald was good for our purpose, which was only to sleep for two nights. The taxi driver didn't find the right road at first so we got a nice sightseeing of the neighborhood. The hotel surroundings consisted mostly of cheap restaurants, but we didn't visit any of them. It was only a ten minute walk from the hotel to the nearest metro station, so we could easily get to the city.

Vaikea ymmärtää, että olen nyt viisi kuukautta asunut hotelissa. Naapurit vaihtuvat kovaan tahtiin ja aina näkee uusia ihmisiä aulassa istuessa. Hotelli eli Exchange Center sijaitsee campuksen toisen portin luona, eli ulos alueelta pääse helposti, mutta rakennus on samalla melko keskellä kaikkea. Ensimmäisessä kerroksessa sijaitsee respa, jossa voi istua joko sohva ryhmässä tai sitten ”ruokailutilassa”. Aulassa on siis jonkin sortin keittiö, jota siivoojat käyttävät, mutta olen nyt alkanut käymään siellä ruokaa mikrossa lämmittämässä. Hissien vieressä on myös ravintola, jossa olen kerran käynyt syömässä todella pahaa kanaa ja riisi annosta. Toisessa kerroksessa en ole käynyt, mutta luulen siellä olevan vain kokoontumistiloja ja työhuoneita. Kolmessa kerroksessa on sitten hotellihuoneita. Huoneet ovat erikokoisia, ja yhden- ja kahdenhengen huoneiden lisäksi löytyy kolmen hengen huoneet ja pariskuntahuoneita. Viidennessä kerroksessa on myös vaatteiden pesutilat. Onneksi pesukoneen käyttö on todella simppeliä puuhaa, vaateet vaan koneeseen sisään, vähän pesunestettä mukaan ja maksukortilla kone lähtee itsestään käyntiin. Pesutuvassa on myös kuivausrummut, mutta vaateet kuivuvat huoneessa melkein päivässä. Tanskalaiset veivät alussa vaatteensa ulos kuivumaan pyykkinarulle.

Aluksi kun saavuin hotelliin, paikan päällä oli kauheasti tanskalaisia. En silloin tiennyt mihin ryhmiin he kuuluivat, sillä isoin ryhmä oli täällä vain pari kuukautta opiskelemassa kiinaa kun taas pienempi ryhmä oli täällä vaihto-oppilaina. Noin kolmenkymmenen kahdeksantoista vuotiaan oppilaan lisäksi hotelissa asuivat myös kaikki heidän opettajat. Eli alussa naapureina asui opettajia, joten minun huoneen ulkopuolella oli melko rauhallista. Noin kuukauden jälkeen hotelliin saapui toinen ryhmä tanskalaisia. He olivat hotellissa vain pari viikkoa, eli hetkellisesti täällä oli lähemmäs viisikymmentä tanskalaista, jos ei jopa enemmän. Kiinankieltä opiskelleiden lähdettyä, hotelli oli hetkellisesti melko tyhjä. En vielä tässäkään vaiheessa ollut kovin tietoinen ketkä hotelissa asuu. Esim. kaksi tanskalista muuttivat hotellin asumaan asunnosta melko myöhäisessä vaiheessa. Myös saksalainen ja liettualainen muuttivat samoihin aikoihin hotellista pois saadakseen paremman asunnon.

Kampuksella on miekkailulle tarkoitettu rakennus, joten suuria urheilujoukkueita ovat tulleet ja menneet. Jossain vaiheessa oli meneillään kilpaillut ja silloin hotelissa oli paljon yksittäisiä kilpailijoita treenaajien tai coachejen kanssa hotelissa asumassa. Kuukausi sitten hotellissa asui uskoakseni korealainen miekkailuryhmä jokunen viikko, ennen kuin ryhmä lähti ja paikalle saapui vietnamilaisia. Vietnamilaiset tekevät ihan kauheasti melua, ja uskon asuneeni joidenkin suosittujen poikien vastapäätä, sillä ihmiset ravaavat edes takaisin ja huutoa käytävästä ja huoneesta kuului koko ajan. Tämkin ryhmä lähti ja hotelli on nyt melko tyhjä taas hetkellisesti, kunnes täällä kampuksella taisi alkaa jokin koripalloleiri. Nyt hotellissa on taas lähemmäs kuusikymmentä kiinalaista, joista noin parikymmentä on alle kymmenen vuotiaita. Hauskaa kun he ylemmissä kerroksissa pomputtaa niitä pallojaan ja juoksee käytävissä.

It's a bit hard to believe I have been staying in a hotel for over four months now. During this time my neighbors have changed rapidly, so I will write a bit about that. The hotel I live in is also known as an Exchange Center. It is located inside the campus area, beside the second gate, so it is easy to get out from the campus without having to walk too far. The first floor consist of the lobby and reception, a corner where you can warm your food in a micro and eat, even though I mostly see the cleaning ladies eating there. There is also a so called western-styled restaurant, that I have only been once to. They serve some rice-dishes and pizza, and lots of local people seem to like the place, since outside the hotel might be lots of cars when people come here to eat lunch or dinner. I haven't been to the second floor, but I assume there is only office-spaces and some sort of meeting spaces or class rooms. The third to the fifth floor consist of rooms for one to three people. The laundry room is also on the fifth floor. The washing machine is luckily really easy to use, and my clothes get dry inside my room in one or two days. The Danes used to put their clothes outside to dry, but I assume that the clothing line outside is maybe the cleaning ladies.

First when I arrived at the hotel, the place was full of only Danes. They were here for only a couple of months to study Chinese. They were about eighteen years old, so on the same floor as I lived on, lived also their teachers. This meant that I had a pretty quiet start, since nobody ran around outside the teachers rooms in the night. Later on I started finding out where the other exchange students lived, and most of them had their rooms at the same floor as I. Two of the Danes lived in an apartment outside campus, but they moved into the hotel around the same time the German and Lithuanian exchange students moved out from the hotel to find another place to live at. At some point more Danish student came to the hotel for a couple of weeks, but as they all went back home, the hotel was pretty empty for a short while.

As my school is known for its fencing team, a lot of people stay at the hotel if they participate in matches and so on. At one point the hotel was full of fencers with their coaches during a fencing competition. As the competition was over a group of Korean fencers lived here as they practiced in the fencing hall. After them a group of Vietnamese fencers came to stay here. The Vietnamese guys was by far the nosiest group. As they had to shout in the corridors all the time and knock on the door opposite me always for five minutes before the guys living there bothered to open up. When this group left the hotel was empty for again, until a basketball camp started here. Now the hotel is full of 10 and 18 years old basketball players. Not that fun when they live on the upper floors and bounce their balls and run in the corridors so that I can't even take a nap.
