Minxue Road
Olen ollut Shanghaissa
kohta kaksi kuukautta, ja en ole jaksanut julkaista blogipostia ruokakadustani
aikaisemmin. Kadun nimi on Minxue Road ja se sijaitsee noin viiden minuutin
kävelymatkan päässä koulusta. Monet oppilaat käyvät siellä päivällä syömässä, mikäli
he eivät halua käydä koulun kahdessa ruokalassa. Olen jo huomannut, että kello
neljältä oppilaiden mennessä kotiin katua kannattaa välttää, sillä oppilaita on
kaikkialla. Kadulla on paljon keskikokoisia ruokakauppoja, josta käyn vettä ja
pientä syötävää silloin tällöin ostamassa. Ravintoloita ja katukeittiöitä on jokaiseen
makuun. Puolessa väliä tietä sijaitsevat ulkomaalaisten oppilaiden asuntolat,
eli mm. kaikki afrikkalaiset ja venäläiset, jotka tekevät koko tutkintonsa
Shanghaissa, asuvat siellä. Ruokakadulla on myös muitakin kauppoja, kuten
vaate-, kirjoitustavara- ja siivoustavaraliike. Periaatteessa kaiken löytää
tältä kadulta ravintolat, ruokakaupat, maehubaarit, hedelmäkaupat, vaateliikkeet, katukeittiöt,
puhelinliike, nettikahvila, apteekki ym. Kadun varrella on siis sekä melko siistejä
ravintoloita että keittiö seinässä -tyyppisiä paikkoja ja tietenkin myös iltaisin ilmestyvät kärry-keittiöt. Hotelissa ei voi valmistaa mitään ruokaa, joten melkein kaiken lämpimän ruoan käyn kadulta ostamassa. Tanskalaiset, joiden kanssa olin syömässä illallista aiemmin, kertoivat, että heitä oli varoitettu menemästä syömään katukeittiöihin. Melko jännä juttu, sillä ruoka meidän kadulla on halpaa ja hyvää. Alan tässä pikkuhiljaa postailemaan ruokakokemuksia kadulta. :) On
myös toinen vähän hienompi ruokakatu lähistöllä, jossa käyn vähemmän, mutta
siitäkin lisään sitten myöhemmin.

I have been in Shanghai for almost two months now and I haven't even posted a single post about my food-street. Minxue road is located about five minutes walk away from the hotel. Lot's of students walk there during their lunch break, but also around four o'clock it is wise to avoid the street, because it gets full of students going home from school. You could almost say that the shops and street-kitchens only customers are students. Along the road you can find lots of normal food stores, from which I buy water and other food stuff. There is also lots of restaurants, but I have only tried one of them this far. I usually go to the street-kitchens, and I will later on start posting more about the food I have tried on the street. Some of the Danish students, that lived here before where advised not to eat food from the street. And even one of my teachers said that the food isn't good at the street. But as I wrote earlier, more about it later on in the blog :) The street has also a lot of specialty shops such as a paper an pen -shop, clothingstores and a cleaningstuff store. There are also a pharmacy, a China Mobil-shop, an internet cafe and lots of juice-, smoothie- and milkshake bars. Half way down the road is were most of the African and Russian students live. I also believe that Chinese students that don't live at the campus lives there. We can't cook at the the hotel, so basically all my ready-to-eat food I buy from the street. Even though there is another food-street nearby the hotel, I still rather go to this one.
