You could make your own wax-hand
Looks more like a club than a museum
Olimme lähdössä
tanskalaisten kanssa Shanghain ulkopuolella sijaitsevaan kaupunkiin. Mutta
kokoontuessamme yhdeksältä aamulla ulkona satoi paljon ja säätutka näytti, että
toisessakin kaupungissa oli jopa tulvavaroitus sateiden vuoksi. Päätimme tavata
uudestaan kahdeltatoista ja kaikki meni takaisin nukkumaan. Yritimme uudestaan
lähteä ulos, vaikka ulkona satoi vieläkin. Menimme People’s Squerille
sijaitsevaan Madame Tussauds:in vahamuseoon. Saimme jopa liput
opiskelualennuksella heiluttamalla hotellin avainkortteja, jossa lukee Shanghai
Finance University, vaikka oikeasti olisi pitänyt olla opiskelija kortti. Museo
sijaitsee samassa rakennuksessa kauppakeskuksen kanssa, joten otimme hissin
kymmenenteen kerrokseen.
Lippuun kuului käynti ”dark
maze”-huoneissa. Eli kuljimme läpi pimeitä huoneita, joissa oli erilaisia
kummitus/zombi vahanukkeja. Seinillä oli uv-väri roiskeita ja käden jälkiä ym.
Käytävissä tuli myös erilaisia ääniä ja tuuliefektejä, joka sai jopa yhden
pojista pelästymään kahdesti. Kävellessämme rautalanka aidan ympäri ääni efektinä
oli kauhea metalli kolina ja ympäri juoksenteli ”hirviöitä”, eli työntekijät
maskit päällä, pelästyttämässä ihmisiä. Näin kerran jopa kun yksi
henkilökunnasta hyppäsi ulos sivuovesta pelästyttääkseen ohikulkevia.
Tämän jälkeen jatkoimme
museon puolelle. Siellä oli esillä monta hahmoa, joita olin jo nähnyt Hong
Kongissa ollessani jokunen vuosi sitten kuten esim. Albert Einstein ja Jackie
Chan. Perus hahmojen jälkeen oli esillä tunnettuja julkkiksia kuten Brad Pitt,
ilman Angelinaa, Nicole Kidman ja Julia Roberts. Seuraavaksi olivat muusikot
kuten mm. Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Beatles ja Elvis esillä. Näiden jälkeen
tuli poliitikot kuten Obama ja Putin sekä Diana että Prinssi Williams.
Kiinalaisten poseeratessa vakavasti poliitikkojen kanssa, yksi tanskalaisista
alkoi keksiä kaiken maailman asentoja poseeratessa vahanukkejen kanssa. Eli
yllätyin kyllä vähän etteivät kiinalaiset tehneet mitään hauskoja poseerauksia.
Esillä oli suuri määrä kiinalaisia
näyttelijöitä, laulajia, julkkiksia ja urheilijoita. Oli myös yllättävää nähdä,
että moni urheilija vahanukeista oli samassa asennossa kun Hong Kongin
museossa. Eli olivatkohan hahmot lainattu sieltä?
Oli hauskaa tehdä ja nähdä
jotain uutta lomana aikana. Mutta mikäli on jo käynyt Madame Tussauds:in vahakabinetissa
jossain päin Kiinaa, uudestaan ei kannata käydä, sillä esillä olevat tunnetut henkilöt
ovat samat molemmissa paikoissa. Ja mielestäni hahmot eivät muistuttaneet
oikeita henkilöitä yhtään. Varmasti Kiinalaiset hahmot muistuttivat esikuviaan
paremmin, mutta esim. Beckhamit oli vaikea tunnistaa, sillä he eivät näyttäneet
yhtään aidoilta.

It rained during the whole Saturday, so
there wasn’t much you could do. We were about to go to a nearby city of
Shanghai but we changed our plans when we saw the rain outside. Instead we went
to Peoples Squares Madame Tussauds wax-museum. We paid 110RMB for the ticket,
after we had got some students discount. The museum is located on the tenth
floor of a shopping mall so we took the elevator up after we had bought our
tickets on the first floor.
Entering the dark maze was included in the
ticket price, so we went queuing to get in there. The maze consists of
different rooms and corridors with spooky wax-figures and body parts all over
the place. There was also uv-paint splatted around the walls and floors to give
a spookier look. The maze was so dark that you couldn’t see almost anything and
the only sounds you could here was people screaming and different noises made
by machines. One of the boys got scared twice by a noise that is made by blowing
lots of air out. When we were walking in a room with lots of metal wire fences I
saw that there were museum employees running around with masks scaring the
people inside. I also saw on masked employee jumping out from a secret room to
scare the people who passed by. Probably if you are one of the first people
walking the maze, it might be scary, but since we were one of the last ones the
employees stopped scaring people before we even had come that far.
After the maze we continued to the actual museum.
Since I had been to the wax museum in Hong Kong most of the figures were
familiar from there. In the Shanghai museum there were more known Chinese
actors and musicians than International ones. There were only a few figures
that confused me a bit. For example they had Putin and Obama on display in the
politics section as well as princess Diana and prince Williams. I didn’t see
the connection between these people in that section. The other thing that was
weird was that they had the Beckham couple on display. Why? I don’t think people
in China know who they are. Also Brad Pitt stood without Angelina, even though
here name was written on the wall.
If you already have been to a wax-museum
somewhere in China, this one won’t be any different. Probably over half of the
wax-figures where the same as in Hong Kong.
And some were even in the same position in both museums. But it was
still nice to do something else during the holidays than just staying at the
hotel.
