The road I walked on to get to my destination
Sain eilen illalla
viestin, jossa kerrottiin residence permittini olevan valmis. Päätin sitten torstai
iltapäivänä lähteä hakemaan passini takaisin. Bussissa istuessani huomasin,
että ajamme samalla tiellä kun missä exit-entry office. Päätin sitten hetken
mielijohteesta hypätä ulos bussista vaikka olimme jo kääntyneet toiselle
tielle. Tässä vaiheessa tajusin jo, että rakennus, jonne olin matkalla ei ollut
lähelläkään, vaan melkein tien toisella puolella. Ei muu auttanut kun kännykkä
esiin ja aloin navigoimaan mikä olisi nopein reitti. Kännykkä sanoi että matka
kestää autolla 10 minuuttia, mutta ei minulla paljon yli puoli tuntia kestänyt
kävellä sinne.
Päästyäni perille menin
ensimmäisessä kerroksessa kylttien ohjaamaan jonoon, jossa maksoin visakulut.
Residence Permit tai Green card, mitä nimeä sitten käyttää, maksoi 400RMB, eli
vähän yli viisikymmentä euroa. Tämän jälkeen menin toiseen jonoon, josta sain passini
takaisin. Viime kerralla jonotin melkein tunnin jättäessäni passini heille ja
tällä kertaa sain kaiken hoidettua viidessä minuutissa. Nyt minulla on siis
Residence Permitti Kiinassa, eli voin matkustella niin paljon kun haluan ulos
Kiinasta ilman, että minun pitäisi anoa uutta viisumia. Residence Permittini
päättyy 30.7.2014 eli ennen sitä tulen takaisin Suomeen.

I got a text telling me that my passport is
ready to be picked up, so on Thursday I decided to go and get it. I took the
same buss as always into the city. As I looked out from the bus window I saw
that we were driving on Minsheng road, the same road on which the Exit-Entry
Office is located. After we already had turned away from the road I decided to
get off the bus, since thought it would be faster to walk than waiting for the
bus to get to Century Avenue, then take the metro and then still walk to the
office. As I already had got off the bus it hit me that the road can cross the
whole city and I don’t know how close the building is. With my phone I
navigated my way to the destination and it took only about thirty minutes, which is
the same as if I had continued with the bus instead of getting off earlier.
As I got in to the Exit-Entry Office
building I went to pay for the visa fees at one of the counters on the first
floor. After I had paid 400RMB I went to the next line where I got my passport
from one of the officers. This only took about 5 minutes compared to the one
hour I spent here last time I had to drop off my passport on the third floor. As
I now got my Residence permit or Green card, as it is also known as, I
can stay in China until the end of July. I’m also able to travel outside China,
which the other exchange students can’t do since they only got one-entry visas
as they only stay for half a year here in China.
