Vapun kunniaksi myös Kiinassa vietetään Labor Day:ta. Se tarkoittaa, että monella oli vapaata yhdestä päivästä neljään päivään asti. Koska en ole pitkään aikaan käynyt klubeilla, päätin, että nyt olisi hyvä aika mennä kun poikaystävälläkin on kerrankin vapaata. Meidän oli alun perin tarkoitus mennä noin kahdeksan hengen porukalla ulos, mutta monella oli muita suunnitelmia, nyt kun kerrankin sai vapaata. Lopulta meitä siis lähti vaan kolme, eli myös suomalainen liittyi mukaan. Olin sopinut promotterini kanssa etukäteen mihin baariin halusimme mennä, ja hän ilmoitti odottavan meitä siellä. Poikaystäväni oli kumminkin niin myöhässä, että ottaessamme taksin tiesin jo myöhästyvämme. Asiaa ei paremmaksi tehnyt, että taxikuskimme oli hitain, jonka kyydissä koskaan olen ollut. Kuski jopa valitsi sen pisimmän matkan keskustaan, että siinä oli jo vaikea pysyä ihan hiljaa. Selitys hitaudelle selvisi, kun kuski nukahti seistessämme valoissa. Sanoin kovaan ääneen, että nukutko sinä siinä? Kuski säpsähti hereille ja ajoi meidät loppumatkan nopeasti perille.
Onneksi emme tulleetkaan
jo kymmeneltä, niin kun etukäteen oli sovittu, sillä klubi oli puolituntia
myöhemmin melko tyhjä. Saimme kumminkin istumapaikat sohva-pöydästä. Useimmissa
klubeissa pöydistä maksetaan ja niihin ei voi noin vain mennä istumaan, joten
aina kun saamme pöydän, ilta tuntuu paljon helpommalta, kun että pitäisi seistä
koko ajan. Koska olimme keskiviikkona ulkona, baarissa oli meneillään Ladies
Night, eli menin aina baaritiskiltä hakemaan kaksi drinkkiä ilmaiseksi. Toisen
join aina itse ja toisen anoin miehille. Pöytäämme tuli myös muita henkilöitä,
jotka tuntevat jonkun clubin promottereista. Illan aikana pöytään tuotiin usein
laseja, jonne vodkaa ja appelsiinimehua kaadettiin. En itse näihin koskenut,
kun ihan hyvin pystyin baarista näitä parempia drinkkejä käydä hakemassa.
Huomasi kyllä, että baarissa oli Ladies Night, sekä siitä, että kaksi
baarimikoista oli länsimaalaisia tarjoilemassa yläosattomissa, sekä siitä, että
paikalla oli enemmän keksi-ikäisiä miehiä, kun mitä aikaisemmin olisin nähnyt. Kyllä
myös se vaikuttaa millaisia ihmisiä klubilla käy, koska CA on aika uusi
boutique-mainen Ed Hardy klubi, jonne ehkä rikkaammat länsimaalaiset menevät.
Promotterini tiesi myös,
että olin juuri täyttänyt vuosia, joten pöytään tuotiin syntymäpäiväkakku,
jossa oli jopa numerokynttilät. Ensiksi vain ystäväni ja minä söimme kakkua,
sillä eihän kukaan muu uskaltanut ottaa, päätin silti jakaa iloa, antamalla
lautasia niille jotka onnittelivat samassa pöydässä. Lopulta kakku taisi tulla
syötyä loppuun. Tanssittuamme hetken ja klubin alkaessa tyhjentyä yhden aikaan
päätimme lähteä kotiin, jotta jaksaisimme huomenna nousta melko aikaisin.
Kotimatka meni taxilla tällä kertaa nopeasti ja onnekseni hotellini respantäti
oli huomannut meidän lähtevän ulos, ja jättänyt oven niin, että sain sen auki
ja pääsimme nukkumaan.

As Labor Day is being celebrated in China,
most people have one to four days free. Therefore I decided to take my
boyfriend with me and go to a club, after not having been out in a while. We
were supposed to be about eight people going together, but we ended up being
only three as a Finn also joined us. I had beforehand talked with my promoter,
so that we would be at the same club and therefore don’t need to pay for
anything. We were already a bit late but what made us thirty minute late from
the time I had told my promoter we would arrive at was the taxi driver’s
slowness. Firstly he took a really long way to get to the city center and in
the end he fell asleep when we were stuck in some red lights. As we finally
arrived at CA club in the Xintiandi, we were taken by my promoter to one of the
sofa tables. In most clubs these table spaces cost a lot of money, so you can’t
just sit wherever you want to. Luckily we didn’t come too early as the club was
pretty empty. Before eleven our table was filling up as people knowing
promoters were seated at the same table.
The club was having a Ladies’ Night as it
was Wednesday and I could go to the bar and get free cocktails. Also the men
got free drinks as glasses were filled up with vodka and juice at our table. I
stuck to the cocktails as they still tasted decent compared to the juice-vodka
mix. To get people drunks faster and up dancing, some workers started pouring
vodka straight in the mouth. This seemed to help since lots of people went dancing.
Also for the first time a gay couple made a scene by dancing pretty hilariously
with each other. My promoter was aware I had had my birthday some time ago, so
he brought a cake with candles to my table, free of charge. After me and my
friends had had our part of the cake I started giving out plates to those who
seated nearby and congratulated me. We danced for some while until the club started
getting empty after one o’clock. We headed home instead of going to some of the
other clubs promoters wanted us to go to. This time the taxi driver knew the
fastest way to the hotel so we got to bed early enough to get up before noon
the next day.
