Niin kuin jo aikaisemmin
Glamour Bar postauksessa tuli mainittua, kävimme maanantai-iltana kävelyllä
Bundilla. The Bund on alue Huangpu joen varrella Puxin puolella. Minä taas asun
joen toisella puolella eli Pudongin puolella. Aiemmin alueen historiallisissa
rakennuksissa sijaitsi sekä Kiinalaisia että ulkomaalaisia pankkeja,
sanomalehtine toimituksia ja konsulaatteja. Bund kattaa noin 1,5 kilometrisen
alueen, ja nykyään rakennuksissa sijaitsee pankkeja, hotelleja, ravintoloita,
sekä baareja ja klubeja että eksklusiivisia liikkeitä. Bund on sekä päiväisin
että iltaisin hienon näköinen. Alueella sijaitsee viisikymmentäkaksi
rakennusta, joista moni edustaa eri tyylejä ja on eri arkkitehtien
käsialaa. Ainoastaan yksi rakennus on
kiinalaisen arkkitehdin laatima. Moni rakennuksista edustaa eklektismiä,
kun taas muut voivat olla Art Deco-, Uusgotiikka- tai Uusbarokki-arkkitehtuuria.
Olen alueella käynyt monesti
päiväsaikaan, mutta iltasin paljon harvemmin. Iltasin rakennukset valaistaan
hienosti ja rantakävelyltä on hienot näkymät joen toiselle puolelle, jossa
pilvenpiirtäjät sijaitsevat. Voisi sanoa, että Pudong on modernimpi ja vähän futuristinen,
kun taas Puxin Bund on historiallinen. Molemmat ovat kumminkin Shanghain
tärkeimmät nähtävyydet. Bundin rakennuksissa sijaitsevat ravintolat ja baarit
ovat kalleimpia kaupungissa olevia paikkoja minne voi mennä, mutta olen sentään
kolmessa paikkaa ehtinyt käydä: Glamour Bar, Cuvve ja Bar Rouge. Kaikissa
paikoissa on loistavat nähtävyydet Lujiazuin puolelle, ja siksi olenkin näissä
paikoissa käynyt. En ole vielä Bundin pohjoisosassa käynyt kun uudenvuoden
yöllä, joten siellä pitää vielä käydä katsomassa mm. tunnettua siltaa ja
patsasta.

As I mentioned in the Glamour Bar post
earlier this week, I visited the Bund and had a walk on the boardwalk in
evening for the first time. I have visited the Bund mostly in the day, and if I
have been there in the evening or night I have only been interested in the
other side of the river, namely the skyscrapers of Pudong. Bund is located
along the Huangpu River in Puxi. The Bund is about 1.5 kilometer long and used
to house lots of foreign banks, newspaper offices and consulates. Nowadays the
historical buildings are occupied by banks, hotels, high-end restaurants, bars
and shops. The Bund consists of fifty-two buildings and most of them represent
different architectural styles from art deco to Gothic Revival and Renaissance
Revival to Neo-Classical. The buildings have all different architects from
which only one was made by a Chinese architect.
The Bund is more historical compared to the
modern and futuristic Pudong. The contrast is big and therefore these places
are the biggest sights in Shanghai. The restaurants and bars located inside the
Bund historical buildings are some of the most expensive places, but I have
still managed to visit three bars: Glamour Bar, Cuvve and Bar Rouge. They were
all worth visiting, only because of the view all of them provided to the other
side of the river. I haven’t visited the northern part of the Bund with the
famous pridge and sculpture, so I have still some sights to go to.
