Torstai-iltapäivällä
amerikkalaisryhmä lähti Tianzifang ostosalueelle ostoksille, mutta koska olen
ollut siellä jo pari kertaa, päätin mieluimmin mennä tunnille. Tunnin jälkeen
otin bussin ja metron keskustaan, jossa minun oli tarkoitus tavat ryhmä puoli seitsemältä
joki-ajelu terminaalin edessä. Olin ajoissa ja odottelin lähistöllä noin
puolituntia, ennen kuin yksi ryhmästä soitti ja kysyi missä oikein olin. Sanoin
seisovani lipunmyyntipiste numero kymmenen edessä, mutta he olivatkin numero
kuudentoista edessä. Selvisi, että olin aivan väärän rakennuksen edessä, mutta
alle kymmenessä minuutissa saavuin oikeaan paikkaan, jossa ryhmä oli
odottamassa. Menimme ensiksi odottamaan väärään halliin, joten jouduimme
kävelemään jälleen pitkälle päästäkseen oikeaan paikkaan. Risteily laiva lähti
vähän kello seitsemän jälkeen liikkeelle. Kaikki seisoivat tai istuivat joen
puolella, kun minä taas menin vastakkaiselle puolelle. Veneen lähtiessä
liikkeelle, se siis kääntyi, ja minä näin istumapaikaltani ensiksi Pudongin puolen,
jossa pilvenpiirtäjät sijaitsevat, jonka jälkeen vene teki u-käännöksen
kolmenkymmenen minuutin jälkeen, ja sitten olikin vuorossa Hongkou ja Puxin
puoli. Hongkoun puolta en aikaisemmin ole nähnyt, kun taas Pudongin ja Puxin
eli the Bund, on monesti tullut nähtyä. Risteily siis minusta ollut mikään
erikoinen, sillä olin jo monet rakennuksista ilta-pimeässä valaistukset päällä
nähnyt, mutta kun ilta-ohjelma oli ilmaista, päätin mennä mukaan.

On Thursday afternoon the American group of students went to Tianzifang for some shopping, but I skipped that activity and went to my culture class instead. My class ended a bit before four o'clock, so I took the bus and metro to the city center. I was supposed to meet up with the group at six thirty outside the ferry dock on the Bund, so we could go on a river cruise together. At first I waited outside the wrong terminal, and had to hurry over to the right place, were the group waited for me. At first we also went to the wrong waiting area and quickly switch to the right one. The boat left a bit after seven o'clock and besides our group there were lots of Chinese tourists on board. I went to sit on the so called wrong side, since the boat turned in the beginning so I had the views of Pudong first. The boat went together with other ships up the river for thirty minutes and all the boats made the turn back at the same spot. On the way back I saw the shore of Hongkou, a place I haven't visited as well as the Bund. The sights for me wasn't that spectacular as I have seen both the Bund and Pudong skyscrapers in the evening before. As the activity was indeed free, I felt like it was something to experience anyways.
