SWFC observatoryin sisäänpääsy ei ollut itse rakennuksessa, vaan se sijaitsi erillisessä pienessä sinisessä rakennuksessa. Ensin mentiin turvatarkastuksen läpi, jonka jälkeen siirryttiin kellarikerrokseen jossa liput ostetaan. Tiskillä näytin passia, ja synttärien kunniaksi ei tarvinnut maksaa. Sisäänpääsy on muuten 180rmb kolmeen kerrokseen ja 120rmb 94. kerrokseen. Kellarikerroksessa oli tehty miniatyyri malli keskustasta, joka näytti miltä keskusta näyttää vuorokauden ympäri. Näin vain yön ja aamun, ennen kuin jatkoin jo matkaan. Seuraavassa huoneessa oli jokunen länkkäri katsomassa jotain video-kuvia, joten ajattelin siirtyä eteenpäin. Seuraava huone olikin verhoilla suljettu, ja minun edetessäni sinne, koko muu ryhmä joutui seuraamaan minua, sillä kolmannessa huoneessa katsoimme SWFC esittelyvideon. Videosta selvisi, että alimmissa kerroksissa sijaitsee kauppoja ja ravintoloita, 3-77 sijaitsee konttoreita, 79-93 sijaitsee The Park Hyatt Hotelli ja 94-100 ovat näköalakerroksia.

Odottelimme hetken hissiä, ja hissivahti kertoi, että katosta näki, missä korkeudessa hissi oli. Hän sanoi numeron vaihtuessa -5 m korkeuteen, hissi on saapunut meidän kerrokseen. Hissistä onneksi ei nähnyt ulos, vaan pystyimme ainoastaan seuraamaan missä kerroksessa se on ja miten korkealla. Hissi ei matkalla pysähtynyt missään muualla kun 94. kerroksessa, joka on 423 m korkeudessa. Hissi tärisi pikkasen mutta muuten ei tuntunut missään muualla kun korvissa, että olisi noussut näin korkealle. 94. kerroksesta jatkoimme liukuportailla ylös 97. kerrokseen.

97. näköalakerros ei ensimmäinen kerros, josta näimme ulos. Vaikka kerros oli 439 m korkeudessa, se ei tuntunut niin pahalta, sillä kerros oli niin jämäkäksi. Kuulemma sään mukaan, katto voidaan tässä kerroksessa avata, ja ihmiset voivat hengittää ns. puhdasta ilmaa. Tätä kerrosta on myös kuvailtu olevan kuin silta taivaassa. En tiedä johtuiko säästä, mutta ottaessani kuvia tästä kerroksesta, ikkunat eivät heijastaneet yhtä paljon kuin ylemmästä kerroksesta.

Otimme hissin ylös sadanteen kerrokseen, joka on 474 m korkeudessa. Täällä oli jonkin verran porukkaa, mutta mikäli käveli huoneen toiseen päähän, sai enemmän tilaa itselleen. Lattiassa oli paljon ikkuna-laattoja, eli tarkoituksena oli, että pystyi katosmaan suoraan alaspäin. Minusta tuntui jotenkin kauhealta kävellä näiden yli, joten kävelin suoraan normaalin lattian päällä. Kuvista ei näy, mutta näitä lasi laattoja oli kaikkialla, ja niiden yli oli jossain vaiheessa vaan pakko kävellä. Myös ikkunoiden edessä oli lasi-lattia, joten korkeanpaikankammoiselle, oli vaikeata mennä ihan ikkunan viereen. Kädet hikisenä pelkäsin jo pudottavan kännykän kun välillä yritin onkia sen taskusta ylös saadakseen kuvia myös sillä. Huomasin vasta tässä kerroksessa, että Wechat ohjelmalla pystyi kuuntelemaan nauhoituksia eri kohteista ja kerroksista. QR koodista nappasin kuvan, ja sitten kirjoitin chattiin sen numeron, jonka nauhoituksen halusin kuulla. Sinänsä paljon fiksumpaa, kun että kaikki kävelisivät jotkut kuulolaitteet kädessä, mutta toisaalla taisin olla yksi harvoja, jolla löytyy Wechat, sillä eihän turistit sitä käytä.

Sama hissi otettiin takaisin alas 97. kerrokseen, josta rullarapuilla palasin 94. kerrokseen. Tämä kerros oli paljon suurempi, ja ikkunat olivat 8m korkeat. Keskellä kerrosta löytyivät matkamuistomyymälät, josta tuli kolme korttia ja avaimenperä ostettua. Lisäksi paikalta löytyi kahvila ja paljon penkkejä. En viettänyt täällä kovin pitkää aikaa, vaan otin hissin alas kolmanteen kerrokseen yhdessä suuren määrän kiinalaisturistien kanssa.

                                                                                                                                                                 

The SWFC is located in Lujiazui, beside the other skyscrapers. The entrance to the observatory wasn’t located in the building, but in another small building on one of the sides. After walking through security I took the escalator down to the basement floor. There was the ticket office, and since it was my birthday I didn’t need to pay the entrance fee. Every time they made a ticket check at different points in the building the staff always made sure to wish me a happy birthday. Before going up to the observatory floors, I walked through three rooms in the basement with different multimedia displays. The first room had a miniature scale model of the city center and it showed what the city looks like during different times of the day and night. The second room showcased some pictures and video, but I thought I could get ahead of the western group in this room, so I continued to the last room. This room was closed, but when I approached it, the guide asked everybody else to come in as well even though they hadn’t finished looking at the other room. This room showcased an introduction video about the building. From the video I learnt that F-2 – F3 was where the mall was located, F3 – F77 had offices, F79 – F93 was where the Park Hyatt Hotel was located and F94 – F100 was used for sightseeing.

We moved on to the elevator waiting hall, were the elevator staff told us that we were able to see how high above the ground the elevator was located at the moment, and the when it reached – 5, it would be at our floor. Inside the elevator we could follow on which floor it was and how high above the ground. It didn’t make any stops on the way, instead it went straight up to the 94^th floor. The elevator ride was a bit shaky but otherwise it didn’t make any sound. From this floor I took the escalator up to the 97^th floor which was 439 m high. This was the first time I could see outside after going inside the building. The view was pretty good more I had a more secure feeling at this floor than the one above. The 97^th floor is said to be like a bridge across the sky, but it was more like a room with large windows. The glass roof can also be opened up to let the people breath in the freshest air possible, but this didn’t happen on my tour.

An elevator took me up to the highest floor, floor number 100, which is 474 m above the ground. This is also the highest observatory in the world. There were a lot of people on this floor, but I still managed to get space for myself. The floor was for the most part covered with glass plates, and I had a hard time trying to not step on them. Even the floor along the windows had glass panels so it was a bit scary to go near the window and take pictures. My hands were sweating most of the time but otherwise I felt fine up there.

I took the elevator back down to the 97^th floor and the escalator to the 94^th floor, were the souvenir shops were located. This is also a sightseeing platform, whit huge 8 m high windows and 423 m above the ground. This floor was a bit cozier with seats and a café, but it didn’t feel as spectacular as the higher floors. From here I took the elevator down to the mall together with a large group of Chinese tourists.
