Sight three: The Bund Sightseeing Tunnel

Syntymäpäiväni kunniaksi vietin oikean kunnon turisti-päivät menemällä kolmeen turistikohteeseen, jossa en ole aikaisemmin käynyt, ja samalla tuli myös kokeiltua kolme uutta ruoka nautintoa. Kirjoitan päivästäni ensiksi lyhyesti mitä tuli koettua, nähtyä ja maistettua, jonka jälkeen teen vielä lisään postauksia, jossa tulee olemaan vähän lisään tietoa kohteista.

Lähdin aamulla yhdentoista aikaan matkaan ja ensimmäinen kohde oli Shanghai World Financial Center. Olen aikaisemmin käynyt viereisessä pilvenpiirtäjässä, eli Jin Mao Towerissa syömässä, mutta en ole aikaisemmin käynyt näköala-tasanteilla. Sisäänpääsy on syntymäpäivänä ilmainen, joten siinä lienee syy miksi juuri tänään tuli mentyä sinne. Muuten pääsy kolmeen ylimpään kerrokseen maksaa lähemmäs 30 euroa. Minulla on korkeiden paikkojen kammo, joten olin jo stressannut pilvenpiirtäjään menoa sen verran paljon valmiiksi, että paikan päällä ei ollutkaan niin kauheata, kun olin kuvitellut. 97. kerroksen skywalk sujui hyvin ja sieltä siirryimme sadanteen kerrokseen melko nopeasti. Sadannessa kerroksessa oli jonkin verran ihmisiä mutta kyllä sieltä löytyi paljon tilaa myös itselleen. Itse yritin olla astumatta lattiassa oleviin lasi paneeleihin, joista näkyi maahan asti, eli 474 metriä alemmas. Kuvatessa piti aina seinään nojaa, sillä en voinut kuvitellakaan meneväni suoraan ikkunan eteen, kun jakojen alla ei ollut muuta kuin lasi-ikkuna. Kuvia tuli otettua jonkin aikaa kunnes siirryin alempiin kerroksiin ja lopuksi saavuin sky arenaan 94. kerroksessa, josta ostin kolme korttia ja avaimenperän muistoksi.

SWFC alimmissa kerroksissa sijaitsee kahviloita, ravintoloita ja kauppoja. Olimme sisäänpääsylipun yhteydessä saaneet kuponkeja rakennuksen eri paikkoihin, ja yhdellä kupongilla sai ilmaisen macaroon leivoksen. Suuntasin leipomoon, jossa leivos oltiin jo antamassa käteen, mutta pyysin sen mukaan samalla kuin ostin kolme muuta macaroon leivosta ja yhden kuppikakun. Miss Ma leipomossa oli vaikka mitä ihmeellisiä makuja tarjolla ja kaikki olivat vihanneksia käyttäen värjättyjä.  Ostin mm. punajuuri macaroon leivoksen. Täältä matka jatkui kohti IFC ostoskeskusta, jossa kävin syömässä sateenkaari dumplingeja. Olin lukenut niistä toisesta blogista ja ne olivat todella herkullisia. Kävin samassa ostoskeskuksessa vielä Baker and Spice nimisen kahvilan kautta ostamassa kaksi kanelipyörykkää.

Siirryin ulos ja hetken käveltyä saavuin Shanghain lauttaterminaaliin. Vilautin metrokorttia ja menin lautan kyytiin muitten turistien ja paikallisten mukaan. Ylitys ei kestänyt kuin parisen minuuttia, mutta en ole koskaan aikaisemmin kokeillut tätä. Kiinalaiset rynnivät toisen kerroksen ulkotilaan, joten pysyttelin itse sisällä. Lautta saapui sopivasti bundille, jossa etsin itselleni tyhjän istumapaikan ja istahdin alas syödäkseni kanelipullani. En kauan ollut yksin, kun huomasin kahden kiinalaisen bonganneen minut jo sadan metrin päästä, ja hitaasti lähestyessäni penkkiäni. He istuivat parin metrin päässä, vaikka tilaa oli vaikka kuinka paljon. Sivusilmällä huomasin kuinka selfie-tikulla kuvaan pääsin itsekin mukaan. Hetken jälkeen yksi pojista kysyi, voinko poseerata hänen kanssaan yhteiskuvassa, ja suostuttuani, hän alkoi räpsiä kuvia. Juttelimme kiinaksi sitä sun tätä, ja kun olimme jo sen verran tuttuja jo tässä vaiheessa, kuvia voitiin ottaa vähän lisään. Pojat jatkoivat eteenpäin ja luulin jo saavani rauhassa nauttia pullastani, kunnes eteeni ilmestyi vanhempi kiinalainen naisporukka rullatuoli vanhuksen kera, ja hekin halusivat yksi kerrallaan tulla viereeni kuvattavaksi. He olivat aivan ihmeessään, että osasin vastata heidän kysymyksiin kiinaksi, mutta ennen kuin he ehtivät alkaa jutella enemmän nousin ylös ja jatkoin nopeasti matkaan.

Kolmas ja viimein uusi nähtävyys jonne menin, oli Bund Sightseeing Tunnel. Tunnettu siitä, että se on aivan mielettömän huono, tunsin silti, että pakko tämä kerran kokea. Lopputulos on kyllä sama kuin mitä muutkin ovat sanoneet, eli tunneli, jossa vilkkuu vähän valoja ja siitä maksat sitten seitsemän euroa, ei kiitos. Pääsin kumminkin takaisin Lujiazuin puolelle, eli sieltä mistä päiväni oli alkanut ja otin metron takaisin kotiin. Kotona odotti normaalia parempi illallinen sekä sukulaisia, joita en ole aikaisemmin tavannut. Illalla kävimme vielä karaokessa, sen sijaan että olisimme käyneet syömässä BBQ:tä, niin kuin oli ensin luvattu. Kahden tunnin karaoken jälkeen palasimme kotiin nukkumaan.

                                                                                                                                                                  

I celebrated my 22^nd birthday by going to three tourist attractions that I haven’t visited before. I will first write about my day as a whole and after that post some more about some of the highlights of the day. I started off by going to the first attraction, which was the Shanghai World Financial Center located in Lujiazui. From the four skyscrapers in the area, I have only been to Jin Mao Tower, and that was also just for dinner, not for looking at the sights. Since I had my birthday, the entrance to the three highest floors was free, otherwise it costs 180rmb. The 97^th floor wasn’t too bad and I was relieved it didn’t feel is high as it actually was. When I continued up to the 100^th floor, my hands started sweating and I leaned against the wall to take pictures. There were quite a lot of people, but I still managed to find free spots to take pictures from. However, I tried to not go too near the windows, as they had placed smaller windows in the floor as well. Avoiding the floor windows was a hard task but I managed it. I went down to the 94^th floor where I bought some cards and a key-ring for myself as a souvenir.

The bottom floors of the building are filled with shops, cafes and restaurants, to which I had received some coupons to when entering the observatory. With one of the coupons I received a free macaroon from Miss Ma. I also bought some other macaroons and a cupcake before I continued onwards. I walked over to IFC Mall where I ate lunch at Paradise Dynasty. I had some delicious rainbow dumplings that I had read about in another blog. I did one more stop in the mall and bought some cinnamon rolls from Baker and Spice.

I went to the Shanghai Ferry Station and took the ferry over to the Puxi side of the river. The crossing is pretty fast and convenient, but I haven’t done it before. I ended up on the Bund promenade, where I found myself an empty spot. I was just about to eat my cinnamon roll when I noticed two Chinese getting closer and closer. They sat right beside me even though there was plenty of space to go further away. One of them took some pictures of himself with a selfie-stick and now and then tried to take pictures of me without me “noticing”. After a while he got the courage to ask if I could join him in a picture. I said it is okay and with a shaking hand he snapped some pictures of the two of us. We had a nice chat in Chinese and as we had become so good “friends” during this chat, he wanted some more pictures. The two of them moved on and I was left with my cinnamon roll, but not for a long time, since a group of middle aged Chinese women surrounded me and wanted one by one sit by me and have pictures taken. I moved on after a while even though I suspect that the women still would have liked to continue taking pictures.

I walked over to the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel, which was the third tourist attraction I hadn’t tried before. It is known to be the tackiest thing ever with some flashing lights in a tunnel. That was true, and I would not recommend anybody to pay 50rmb for that ride, but at least now I know what they were talking about. The ride ended on the other side of the river, back in Lujiazui, so I took the metro back home. We had dinner at home after which we continued out to a KTV where we sang for two hours before going back home.
