Gym completely empty for the first time at 12 o'clock |
Vapaiden painojen nostelu-alue on melko pieni, mutta vaikka tilaa olisikin, moni tulee viereen seisomaan.
Epäilen että jotkut miehet tulevat viereen näyttämään miten paljon he jaksavat
nostaa. Pokkaa on siis vaikea pitää kuin moni tekee liikkeet aivan väärin kuin
niin isot painot on pakko ottaa, ettei kunnolla liikettä saa tehtyä.
ikinen kerta painon nostossa. Jopa PT yritti pidätellä naurua. Moni meni jopa
hänen ympärilleen seuraamaan hänen suorituksiaan. Puntilla huutelu on normaalia
suomessa, mutta jos joku täällä tekee ääniä, se on minusta todella outoa. Ainoastaan
spinning tunneilta kuulee huutoja. Usein olen ainoa

From the last gym post I can continue by
mentioning the behavior of Chinese people at the gym. Firstly most of the
people don’t even bother putting on gym clothes. Instead the go running in
thick sweaters or lift weights in jeans or just some other weird clothing. The
other thing is the use of mobiles everywhere. Lots of people just sit around
having a break while texting. Some even text at the same time as walking slowly
on the treadmill. I have even seen a guy walking backwards as he was texting at
the same time. Also the bicycle machines are nicer to sit on than actually use.
The gym has three TV-screens so lots of people just hang around watching TV and
occupying a machine for a very long time. Once I even saw a guy taking a nap in the leg press machine.
After working out the weights are just left
lying around the floor, since nobody never returns them to the place they were
taken from. I have also done this and one of the Danes commented that I’m
probably used to other people cleaning up after me at the gym. This is partly
true, since in the beginning the PT I worked out with put back the weights I used. Lately I have got better on putting weight back to their places. And since weights are all around the weight lifting area I never know if
somebody is using them or not. Some people even take lots of weights, put them in a corner, and start doing something else. I don't know if they are about to use them or not, and since some (most) guys lift the same weight as I do, sometimes I have nothing to do if all the weights are taken. The free weight lifting area isn't too big, but even when there are space some guys like coming next to me. I usually like my own space and move to another mirror. I also try not to look around since otherwise I would be laughing all the time when most of the guys take so big weighs that they barley can do the movement right. Any way most of them do the movements wrong or e.g. have their back in the wrong position.
In Finland I was used to people screaming or doing other noises as they lifted weights, but here it is really unusual. So far I only know two who always makes sounds, and one of them didn't even have that heavy weight as he was screaming. Even the PT he was working out with was trying not to laugh every time he screamed. People stood around him as he was working out since the screaming was just so weird. Other things Chinese guys seem to like doing at gyms is slapping each others asses. Mostly when the other one is just lifting really big weights or after spinning class when they are just dripping of sweat. This is pretty awkward for me since usually I'm the only female lifting weights so it's hard to know where to look.
