Kävimme tänään The
Apartmentissa pidetyssä koiranpentujen adoptio – tapahtumassa. Adoptoitavana
oli noin kymmenen pentua, jotka oli pelastettu epäaidosta eläinten
pelastuslaitoksesta, jossa koiria mm. tehtailtiin ja ruoan sijaan niille
syötettiin antibiotikkaa, jotta ne vaikuttaisivat terveiltä, kunnes ne ostettua
sitten yllättäen kuolee. Kaiken kaikkia noin kahdeksankymmentä pentua
pelastettiin, mutta suurin osa on menehtynyt, ja nämä parhaimmassa kunnossa
etsivät kotia. Poikaystävä oli ihastunut kultaiseen labradorin noutajan pentuun,
mutta saavuttuamme paikalle, kaikki paitsi kaksi mustaa labradoria oli
jäljellä. Ihmisiä oli paikalla lähemmäs kolmekymmentä, joten uskon että nämäkin
pennut löysivät kodin. Pelastettavia tai ns. adoptoitavia koiria ja kissoja on
Shanghaissa paljon. Seuraamme jatkossa Best Friends Chinan sivuja, mikäli sinne
ilmestyisi jokin koira, jota voimme auttaa. Olen sen verran lukenut kiinan
pentutehtailusta ja kuinka paljon kulkukoiria kaduilla on, että mieluimmin
adoptoi, kun ostaa pennun, jonka edellisistä olosuhteista ei ole tietoa. Suurin
osa kulkukoirista ovat omistajan kadulle hylkäämiä, joista suurin osa ei osaa
sopeutua katu elämään. Onneksi Shanghaissa vaikuttaa olevan paljon ihmisiä,
jotka auttavat näitä eläimiä.
Today
we went to the Apartment to take part in the puppy adoption happening held by
Best Friends China. There were about ten puppies up for adoption, but the
golden Labrador that my boyfriend would have wanted had already been adopted.
There were only two black Labradors left, but as there were nearly thirty
people in the room, I believe also these puppies found a home. The puppies that
were up for adoption were rescued a while ago from a fake pet rescue center or
a so called dog mill, where they breed dogs in horrible conditions. The dogs
were only fed with antibiotics, so that they would appear normal, but probably
end up dead when bought. Eighty puppies were rescued, but most of them passed
away, so only these lucky guys were adoptable today. We will have our eyes open
and follow up in case there are other puppies that we can help by giving them a
home.
