Another sort of fashion show..

The performances lasted probably a couple of hours

 Lauantaina lähdimme poikaystävän siskon seuraksi, hänen menneessään firman juhliin esiintymään. Juhlat pidettiin Free Trade Zonen vieressä sijaitsevassa Crown Plaza hotellin juhlasalissa. Jokainen firma taitaa tähän aikaan pitää uuden vuoden juhlat työntekijöilleen eli samaan tapaan kuin Suomessa pidetään pikkujoulujuhlat. Firma oli rahoitustoimisto Orangeflag ja paikalla oli varmaan noin kolmesataa työntekijää. Työntekijät istuivat pyöreiden pöytien ääressä jaettuina työpisteiden sijantien mukaan. Saavuimme paikalle vähän ennen kolmea, ja silloin ihmiset vain istuivat kännykät kädessään tylsistyneen näköisinä.

Ohjelma alkoi muotiesityksellä, jossa siis kaikki työntekijät osallistuivat. Juontaja pyysi aina yhden työryhmän, joista he sitten usein pareittain kävelivät näytöslavan edes takaisin. Loppuun vielä poseeraus kameralle ja sitten he pääsivät kirjoittamaan nimensä siihen tarkoitetulle isolle julisteelle. Tämä touhu siis kesti noin tunnin ja olin melkein nukahtaa kunnes ovet avattiin ja sisään pomojen seurassa tepasteli vähäpukeisia naisia. Hekin kävelivät näytöslavaa monesti edestakaisin pikkuruisissa alusvaatteissaan ja luulin jo mallien olevan osa henkilökuntaa, mutta emme olleet varmoja jos he olivatkin ihan tilattuja vaan. Henkilökunnasta noin puolet oli nuoria naisia, joten hyvin he olisivat olleet samat kuin nämä lavalla esiintyneet. Tämän ekstra numeron jälkeen jokainen työryhmä piti esiintyä. Jotkut lauloivat, jotkut tanssivat ja jotkut pitivät lyhyitä humoristisiä näytelmiä. Jopa pääpomo esiintyi näytelmässä. Suuriosa esiintymisistä olivat huonosti valmistuneet ja tämän seuraaminen oli osittain tylsää tai jopa noloa. Etenkin heitä jotka lauloivat ihan nuotin vierestä. Esiintymiset kestivät varmaan parisen tuntia ja jatkoivat jopa ruokailun aikana. Poikaystävän sisko oli auttanut pomo-ryhmän esityksen kanssa, jossa he kaikki tanssivat kiinalaisen pophitin tahtiin.

Samalla kuin söimme meidän 13 ruokalajin illallista, esiintymiset jatkuivat. Jälkiruoan puolella arpajaiset alkoivat. Koko henkilökunta oli kuvattu heidän toivottaessa hyvää uutta vuotta, ja näistä screen shoteista sitten pistettiin kone arpomaan, että kuka voittaisi lahjoja. Aluksi he aloittivat Iphone vitosen kännyköistä, ja mikäli joku johtoportaasta voitti, hän anteliaasti nousi lavalle ja ilmoitti antavansa itse vielä kolme lisään puhelinta, ja näin tämä show jatkui ja jatkui kunnes noin 30-40 onnellista oli saanut joko puhelimen tai tabletin. Arpominen ei tähän loppunut vaan jaossa oli vielä näitä alkuillan alusasuja. Jos voittaja oli nainen, hänelle toivotettiin onnea, mutta mikäli se oli mies, hän joutui yleisön suureksi iloksi kokeilemaan alusvaatteita itsensä päälle. Kun arpajaiset olivat ohi, ohjelma vain jatkui ja nyt oli luvassa kännykän välityksellä rahaa jaossa. Suljetussa ryhmässä nopeimmat pääsivät aina jatkoon ja voittivat eri summia rahaa. Tässä vaiheessa olimme seuranneet tätä hulinaa jo viitisen tuntia, joten nyt oli sopiva aika lähteä kotiin. 

                                                                                                                                                                   

On Saturday we accompanied my boyfriends sister to a company's New Years party as she was performing at the event. The party was held in the ball room of Crown Plaza near the Free Trade Zone. The company works with financing and had a lot of branches around China. The employees were divided into tables according to where they work. There were about three hundred people attending the event. The program started at around three with a fashion show, were all the employees walked the catwalk. The show had a bit of a switch when the male bosses of the company entered the room with some girls in tiny underwear. At first we thought the girls were also some employees, but I'm not sure about that. 

The fashion show took about an hour and as we switched over to the next program most of the women went and changed from evening dresses to suits or other working clothes. The second part of the show was a talent show where all of the branches had to take part in one way or another. Some sent up just one person to perform as others had done it in groups. There were maybe about ten to fifteen branches so the talent show lasted for a couple of hours. Some performed by singing or dancing and others by theater and stand-up. Those that hadn't prepared or where otherwise just bad performers were horrible to watch. The audience was also more interested in their phones than watching the performer. 

The third part was the lucky draw. All of the employees had participated in a video recording where they separately wished happy new year. All of the employees screen shots were then mixed up and one lucky winner got an Iphone or Ipad. There were actually about thirty lucky winners. In case some of the bosses won the lucky draw, they generously announced that they would add some more phones to the lottery and the games continued. After the phones were given away some lingerie. This seemed a bit weird and when a man won the set, he had to show it off on himself. Those unlucky still had a chance to win money in the end. Using WeChat money could be taken by the fastest ones. We were at the party about five hours until we could finally go home. In other words it wasn't the most exciting party to attend when you don't know the company or its employees.
