Koska emme ottaneet adoptio päiviltä koiraa mukaan, pystyimme samalla reissulla käväistä Avocado Ladyn kaupassa. Olin jo viime vuonna lukenut keskustassa olevasta koju-kaupasta, josta löytää melko halvalla länsimaalaisten makuun tuotuja ruokatarvikkeita. Kauppa löytyi matkalla metrolle, ja se ei ollut vaikea olla huomaamatta, sillä missään koju-kaupassa ei koskaan ole näin paljon ulkomaalaisia. Myyjät puhuivat sujuvaa englantia ja opastivat hintojen kanssa. Hinnat eivät siis olleet selvästi merkittyjä, mutta suurin osa tuotteista vaikutti olevan halvempia kuin mitä ketjuliikkeistä saa ostettua. Koju-kauppa ei ole mikään suuri, mutta valikoima oli hyvä, siellä oli mm. vihanneksia, marjoja, juustoja, lihoja, lohta sekä hyllyt täynnä tuontitavaraa. Itse ostin muroja, pakastettuja hampurilaispihvejä, ketsuppia, mansikoita, vadelmia, mustikoita, cream freshiä ja nimensä mukaan pari avokadoa. Tultuamme kotiin sain kuulla, että yhdeltä talomme takakujalta saa avokadoja ostettua, ja kuinka ollakaan sieltä niitä saikin halvemmalla! En siis aikaisemmin avokadoa missään ole huomannut. Varmasti jos alueella asuu, niin hänen luonaan kannattaa käydä, sillä valikoima oli kattava. Jos joku ihmettelee miksi intoilen kaupasta, josta löytyy näitä perus ruokatarvikkeita, niin voin sanoa, että Shanghaissa on erittäin vaikeata löytää mm. juustoa tai jopa maitoa normaaleista kaupoista. Niitä pitää aina käydä erikseen ostamassa esim. Carrefourista tai jostain über-kalliista länsimaalaiskaupasta,

was the first time I visited the Avocado Lady. Located in the French
Concessions I have never seen the open front store before. Maybe because I have
never visited that area before? The store was easy to find since there were so
many foreigners inside the shop. The selection was great and the prices seemed
a cheaper than those of larger super markets. She truly knows what foreigners
want with lots of cheese, berries, salmon, beef, cans and boxes with foreign
food. The employees spoke good English and helped us with the prices as they aren’t
marked as clearly as I would like them to be. I got some berries, frozen hamburger
beef, cereals, ketchup and avocados from the shop. All this time I had believed
this was one of the few places to get avocados from, but as we got home with
them, I was told that I could buy them from a nearby street even cheaper! I also want to add that all of the products found in this store are pretty hard to find in normal Chinese stores as Chinese people don't even know what cheese is, or in this case what the avocado is that I bought.
