Kielletyn Kaupungin jälkeen kävelimme
metrolle ja menimme sillä Kesä Palatsille. Olin kuvitellut Kesä Palatsin
nimestä, että se olisi palatsi järven rannalla, ja that’s it. Mutta kuinka
väärässä olinkaan. Ostettuamme liput lähdimme kävelemään turistien perään.
Aloimme kiivetä koko ajan ylöspäin, ja puolivälissä piti jopa lepää, että
jaksaisi rappuset loppuun asti. Matka ylös kukkulan huipulle oli aivan kauhea,
mutta matkalla oli kaiken mallisia ja kokoisia rakennuksia. En kyllä itse usko
että keisari koskaan tätä tietä käytti, sillä se oli sen verran jyrkkä. Monet
rakennuksista oli hienosti koristeltuja, kuten yksi jonka seinämää peitti
pienet Buddha patsaat. Olimme maksaneet lipun, joka sallii meidän menemään
sisään kaikkiin rakennuksiin, joten pääsimme tutustumaan valtavaan pyhäkköön,
jonka sisällä muistaakseni oli jokin erikoinen Buddha patsas. Pyhäköstä
jatkoimme alas ja tämäkin matka oli todella pitkä. Loppujen lopuksi pääsimme
järven rannalle ja sieltä matka taas jatkui alueen ympäri.

After the Forbidden City, we took a metro to Summer Palace. I had
imagined the place to be only a palace next to the shore of a lake. But I was
wrong. The place and surrounding areas were huge. Only getting from the
entrance we came from all the way to the shore might have taken an hour.
There were stairs everywhere. As we finally had made our way all the way to the
top, we found some nicely detailed houses and all the buildings where
different in both size and style. The ticket we bought gave us access to all
the nice places so went inside the large pagoda on one side of the
hill. The way down was as hard as the way up as the stairs were never
ending. From the pagoda we climbed the stairs down until we reached the shore
and from there on we continued exploring the area.
