| Arriving in south-east Shanghai |
I flew from Helsinki to Shanghai on Tuesday
in the evening with Finnair. My parents travelled on the same day to Gran
Canary, so we had some company of each other in the airport. There were almost
no people when I checked in my bag and went through the security control. The
first time it become somewhat crowded was when we came to the other side of the
security check. I suspect that there were lots of transit passengers travelling
that day and that’s why there weren’t any people checking-in.
My gate was in a new area, which I’ve never
been to before. It was like a large bus terminal, since there were no planes.
When we started “boarding”, we were separated based on our ticket into two
waiting areas. The business class people got on the first buss as we had to
wait for the second one to arrive. I overheard that the plane was quite far
away, so I managed to get a seat in the bus. Walking from the bus to the
airplane wasn’t that fun as it was freezing cold and snowy. I can imagine that
most people weren’t prepared for a walk outside with no coats on, etc.
Due to the heavy snow fall some of the other flights from Europe were delayed and it caused our plane to wait for their
cargo. I could follow the loading of the cargo into our plane through the monitor’s
video cam on top of the plane. The flight ended up being delayed by some 40-50
minutes. On the positive side, there were some one hundred empty seats, so I
could move to an empty row and take all three seats for myself. However, I
couldn’t get much sleep during the flight, so having two extra seats didn’t
help that much.
Due to the delay, there were just a few
people before me in the passport control in Shanghai. Usually it takes anywhere between 20 to 45 minutes to get through it, but now it was done in less than 10 minutes. My bag also arrived quite
fast and my husband and his mother waited for me in the arrivals hall. We took
the car home and I got straight to bed to catch up on the sleep I had lost
during the flight.
Lensin Shanghaihin
Helsingistä tiistaina Finnairin suoralla lennolla niin kuin aikaisemminkin on
tullut tehtyä. Vanhemmat lähtivät suurin piirtein samoihin aikoihin
Kanariansaarille, joten siinä sitten ehti hetken yhdessä shoppailla lentokentällä. Ihmeen
vähän matkailijoita oli sinä päivänä kentällä, ja sekä bagage-drop tiskille
että turvatarkastukseen ei ollut ollenkaan jonoa. Transitmatkustajia taisi
toisaalla olla aika paljon, sillä turvatarkastuksen jälkeen vastaan tuli
mielettömästi ihmisiä. Oma lähtöportti oli uudessa osassa terminaali kakkosen
loppupuolella. Kaikki jotka siihen osaan joutuvat, piti ottaa bussi koneelle.
Meidät jaoteltiin lipun mukaan, eli business ja economy menivät eri
odotustiloihin. Bussi tuli ensin noutamaan businessmatkustajat, ja vasta
jonkin ajan kuluttua meidät loput. Onneksi olin kuullut, kun henkilökunta oli
jollekin sanonut, että kone on melko kaukana, joten menin bussissa heti
istumaan.
Kävely bussista koneeseen ei ollut lumessa ja pakkasessa ollenkaan
kivaa, ja kuulin kun muut matkustajat tästä valittivat lentoemännille. Vaikka
matkustajat olivat ajoissa sisällä koneessa, kone joutui odottamaan lastia
muista myöhästyneistä koneista. Seurasin omasta monitoristani koneen
videokameraa, joten siinä näki kun he lastasivat tavaroita koneen sisään.
Loppujen lopuksi kone taisi lähteä liikkeelle vähän alle tunnin myöhässä.
Lentokoneessa oli noin
sata vapaata paikkaa, joten vaihdoin heti alussa paikan, jotta saisin kolme
istuinta itselleni. Luulen, että suurin osa takana sai kolme paikkaa itselleen,
ja pääsi makuulle. Huonosti tuli lento nukuttua paikasta huolimatta, ja olin
melko loppu saapuessani aamulla yhdeksän paikkeilla Shanghaihin, eli Suomessa
kello kolme yöllä. Ainoa hyvä juttu myöhästymisen kanssa oli se, että passin
tarkastuksessa ei ollut yhtään jonoa. Normaalista siinä menee vähintään 20
minuuttia, jos ei jopa 45min. Laukkukin saapui nopeasti, joten enpä varmaan
koskaan aikaisemmin ole näin nopeasti päässyt kentältä pois. Mieheni oli
vastassa äitinsä kanssa ja autolla pääsi 15 minuutissa kotiin.
